Lighthouse Outreach Ministries, Inc. began in 1993 as a nursing home ministry to serve senior citizens in Jackson, Mississippi. Founder Michael F. Owen, a gifted musician and dedicated minister, began to see increasing opportunities for the new ministry to spread the gospel and serve its community. The monthly outreach into area nursing facilities began to grow into other services and the ministry expanded to include programs touching other areas, including youth, family, and evangelism. Today, Lighthouse has many dynamic ministries, including youth, nursing home, street corner, choir, food pantry, puppet, Turning Point Mission Center Church (September 1999), and more. Departments such as Sabbath school, finance, community outreach, and public relations help the organization run smoothly.
Lighthouse Outreach Ministries is a nondenominational organization that welcomes volunteers, visitors, and members from all walks of life and religious traditions, and does not discriminate in membership, hiring, or services rendered based on race, creed, color, ethnic background, religious preferences, sex, or national origin.
We believe in the Bible in its entirety and follow Jesus’s command, as presented in Matthew 28:19 (KJV): “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”
We believe the Bible to be the Word of God, and as such govern all of our activities with an eye toward Biblical teaching. As a nondenominational organization, we embrace people from all religious traditions who are interested in learning solid Biblical truth and being a part of a ministry that meets people where they are to help them go farther on their spiritual walk.
